Kids, ponies and sulkies.
Mini trots is harness racing for juniors. Drivers from 5 years old race their own ponies in sulkies, just like the big trots, at Newcastle Paceway and around the Hunter.

The first step into harness racing
Young drivers, real racing.
Our drivers learn horsemanship, how to drive and how to race in a friendly, competitive way. Families pitch in behind the scenes, and the crowd at the Paceway loves them.

Drivers from age five
Kids start young and grow with their ponies, learning to handle, harness and drive.
Ponies under 52 inches
Ponies, shetlands and midgets race in sulkies, just like the big trots.
Everyone in with a chance
Handicaps give faster ponies further to run, so the finish is close every time.
Watch a handicap race.
Four ponies, four different marks, one finish. The back marker starts furthest away and runs fastest, and in a perfect race they all hit the line together.
